Love One Another - Amaos los Unos a los Otros

Love one another, as I have loved you (John 15:9-17)

9 I have loved you just as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.
10 If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
11 I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete.
12 This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you.
13 No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.
14 You are my friends, if you do what I command you.
15 I shall no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know the master's business; I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father.
16 You did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last; so that the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.
17 My command to you is to love one another.

How to install the latest versions of applications in old versions of Windows

Recently, I've discovered the way to install apps that only work on recent versions of Windows in computers with old versions of the OS. Believe it or not, I've been able to upgrade my browser after installing KernelEx.

"KernelEx is an Open Source compatibility layer with an aim to allow running Windows 2000/XP-only applications on Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows Millennium operating systems."

After installing KernelEx and downloading the browser or app you wish you install, sometimes it is necessary to right-mouse click on properties, click kernelex, them "use specific compatibility mode": choose Win 2000 SP4 or XP. It could be also necessary to check "Don't use these settings in child process"

So far, I've tested the portable versions of these browsers: Opera 11 (Opera 11.5 no portable had some bugs), and Firefox 3. However, I haven't been able to make work Flash Player 10 plugin, so I'm using Flash 9.

All what I can say is that KernelEx is a wonder and that the developers of it should continue improving it.

  * UPDATE 20 Feb 2012

Finally I've got to make work the last version of Flash Player in Opera! Flash Player 11 plugin is working great! The trick is: Just place the NPSWF32.dll plugin inside opera\program\plugins, now right-click on plugin --> properties --> kernelex (check "use specific compatibility mode": Windows 2003 SP1, and Accept!)

Mr. Deeds goes to Town - El Secreto de Vivir (1936)

Gary Cooper in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town trailer

A simple man who likes to play the trombone inherits a fortune, making it a powerful man, influential and immensely rich. His wisdom will be challenged when he decides to distribute his money among the poor. The tabloid will make him play a trick and even come to feel disappointed about loving feelings are concerned. The film has memorable scenes like the one in which Mr. Deeds has fun sliding down the banister of the stairs, one in which we see how he enjoys seeing a hungry man to eat, and another one in which he plays to symphonic echo with his servants. In the Spanish dubbed version, when the two old sisters, who share his house in the village, are asked the opinion they have about Mr.Deeds they say "El señor Deeds está poseído por los duendes" (They say "Mr. Deeds is pixilated", in the original version, meaning he's possessed by the pixies).

Portable Apps, so useful as they are

Did you know that many apps have their portable versions to use with a USB memory stick? The advantage is they do not require any kind of formal installation onto a computer and the temporary files are stored in the USB drive.

You can find a big list on the Wikipedia.

Some browsers like Firefox (Firefox Portable), Opera (Opera@USB), Google Chrome... have their portable versions too, that's quite useful when surfing the net in a computer is not of your own, such as places like universities, cybercafés... In that way cookies, cache and history remain in your USB drive or are deleted after closing the browser, keeping your surfing data private (don't get confused with anonymous surfing)

Respect to FF Portable you may need to install Flash and Shockwave plugins:

- Locate the plugins in your PC (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\)
- Copy the plugin you need from there to your FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins directory (For Flash, copy "NPSWF32.dll"... for Shockwave, copy "np32dsw.dll")
